Helen Wood in Africa

Helen has been attending LCBC since she was born. As a child she spent five years in Musoma in Tanzania when her parents were missionaries with Africa Inland Mission, and she returned to Tanzania on her gap year spending five months volunteering for Kuleana in Mwanza, a centre for street boys.

She is now at the University of Chester studying International Development and Geography, and as part of her second year has the opportunity to do a placement in Kenya. Leaving this week, Helen will be going with a group of other students from the University to work for a local development agency, the Anglican Church of Kenya, Western Region Christian Community Services (ACK-WRCCS).

Helen will be with ACK-WRCCS for five weeks, based in western Kenya, in the Kakamega region. The first two weeks will be spent  visiting a variety of ACK WRCCS projects. These aim to help rural communities realise sustainable socio-economic development. The following three weeks Helen will be teaching in a local school.

After this placement, she will be travelling around East Africa for a further five weeks, including re-visiting Kuleana and Musoma. Helen would very much appreciate our prayers while she is away.
